Dedication Ceremony to commemorate the placement of a series of seven historical interpretive signs that are located along Chesapeake Avenue. These signs chronicle the history of Olde Wythe. Ceremony was held on the waterfront at the end of Hampton Roads Avenue.

In 1925 Raymond Brown ( known as Coca Cola Brown) was looking for a side business to go along with his Coca Cola distribution business located in Newport News. He found one in manufacturing a wall mounted bottle cap opener, which was intended to make bottled drinks easier for housewives to open. He bought the patent and began producing what became known as the Starr Bottle Cap Opener. Mr. Brown moved with his family to Wythe in the 1930's Today the Starr Bottle Cap Opener is still being manufactured by the Brown Manufacturing Company of Decatur, Georgia.
